Sheepskin Care Guide

Ventilation and shaking

Ventilation is the most important and natural way to keep the sheepskin fresh. Take the sheepskin outside to air it out in dry weather. However, avoid direct sunlight.
A brisk shake helps remove dust and loose particles.

Stain removal

Remove stains locally with a wool detergent suitable for the wool, for example BääBää®️ Lanolin Spray. Use a damp cloth and pat gently – do not rub too hard. Avoid wetting the fur too much.

Dehumidification

If the sheepskin gets wet, dry it flat at room temperature – not on a heat source or in the sun.

Combing

Brush the hair side with a fine-toothed comb if you want to fluff up the wool. Use BääBää®️ Lanolin Spray or another sheepskin conditioner when brushing to ensure the best possible result.

The natural curls of your hair will be enhanced if you spray a little water on its surface, for example with a spray bottle.

Do not brush curly wool sheepskins unless you want to dilute their curls. Lightly pressing the curly wool is a better option in this case.

Washing

In winter, sheepskin can be rolled in clean, frozen snow, just like rugs. However, the weather must be below freezing to prevent the sheepskin from getting wet.

Washing method: If the entire leather needs washing, we recommend taking it to a professional dry cleaner. At home, you can gently hand wash small areas. However, avoid getting the leather side wet, as it hardens when wet and may not return to its original condition.

Water temperature: Use lukewarm water (max 30 °C).

Detergent: Use a mild detergent suitable for wool. Discover BääBää®️ Lanolin Spray , designed to freshen and condition sheepskin.

Rinse and dry: Rinse thoroughly and dry flat with the wool side up. Gently shape the wool while drying.

Preservation

Keep the sheepskin in a dry and airy place. Avoid storing it in a plastic bag for long periods of time.

Use

Sheepskin is a versatile product, it can withstand heavy use, both indoors and outdoors. BääBää®️'s high-quality sheepskin does not shed hair during use – you can use it, for example, as a seat or sleeping mat, in strollers or as interior decoration.

Tips

Air, don't wash. Sheepskin cleans itself naturally – often just airing it out is enough to keep it fresh and clean.

A perfect thermal insulator. Sheepskin works great against the cold – use it as a seat pad on winter hikes, at the cottage or in a cool workspace.

Pets love it too. They love to snuggle up on sheepskin – the warm and soft place makes it a great bed.

Use creatively in your interior design. Hang the pulley on the wall, throw it on a bench or spread it over the bed. It makes also a perfect rug – it will add warmth and texture to your space.

A timeless gift. High-quality sheepskin is a durable and luxurious gift that will delight for years to come.

Store correctly. Store the sheepskin in a dry and airy place, preferably in a cloth bag. Avoid moisture and prolonged folding.

Leather side maintenance. If the leather side of your leather gets wet and hardens, you can try to care for the leather with a conditioner intended for leather products.
